The Park Authority inaugurates the Museum of the Vesuvius National Park, located in the Cultural Center of Villa Regina, as part of a collaboration with the Municipality of Boscoreale.
The Vesuvius Observatory–INGV and the Cives Foundation.
In the museum, an exhibition path has been created with informational panels and multimedia installations, illustrating the geological evolution of the Somma-Vesuvius volcanic complex, the development of biodiversity through key plant and animal species, and the interaction of humans with the volcano.
The museum is divided into five rooms:
The volcano, themed on the evolution of Somma-Vesuvius; a model of the volcanic structure allows the visualization of recent volcano eruptions and their impact on the environment.
The birth and evolution of the Vesuvian soil, where the processes of formation and evolution of the soils in the Vesuvian volcanic environment are described.
Soil and biodiversity, featuring the representation of the main plant and animal species that inhabit the Vesuvian environment and the agricultural surroundings.
Anthropized soil, in this area, the consequences of improper land use and their effects on the environment and humans are described through dioramas and panels.
The interaction between humans and Vesuvius, a room dedicated to the relationship between humans and the volcanic environment. The model of a Vesuvian farmhouse illustrates the processes for winemaking along with a video on the evolution of construction techniques.
